HANGAR:
TYPICAL HANGAR ENGAGMENT.
Eagle Aviators summer program is set to get off the runway and local high school students are invited!
The group will begin meeting on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in June, and students are welcome to participate at the level that works best for their schedule.

Young Eagles/ Discover Flights
Every couple of months Eagle Aviators gives EAA Young Eagle Flights, a free discovery flight for youth ages 8-17 years old from a local certified pilot to see if the student is interested in learning more about flying. We also give free discovery flights to students that join but don’t have a Young Eagles flight in the near future!

Building Airplanes
Eagle Aviators is currently in the process of building 2 airplanes. A Rans S-21, which will soon become a training aircraft for our students and a Hatz Biplane that we will fly with students before selling to help fund our next airplane build.
Building airplanes has been Eagle Aviators foundation and continues to be our students most interested activity. Students work with A&P mechanics to learn how to build aircrafts. The hours each student spends building is logged and can be used to become an Airframe and Power plant mechanic, High school elective credit, and also to earn “Fly Bucks” our program to reduce the cost of real flying lessons.
For each hour the student works building planes the student earns 10 Fly Bucks. We allow each student to use a maximum of 50 Fly Bucks discount per hour on flight instruction.

Flight Simulator
Eagle Aviators has an FAA Approved RedBird TD2 flight simulator and a designated simulator instructor that is available to all Eagle Aviator students at no cost. Students will begin flight training in our simulator and fully checked out on knowledge and skill before transitioning to flying in our Cessna 172 with the flight instructor.

Administration Work
Some students are interested only in the mechanics of the plane and have no interest in flying, and some students only want to fly and aren’t interested in building. For students not interested in building, they can earn “Fly Bucks” doing administrative work, which includes grant writing, fundraising, and other aspects of flight program organizing that can be useful in careers in airport administration and aircraft/fleet management. Eagle Aviators program relies on donations, so students who are helpful in the administrative work around fundraising are as important to the program as those building the airplanes.
For earning Fly Bucks doing administrative work each activity is awarded differently but the minimum amount of Fly Bucks earned is the same as building airplanes which is 10 Fly Bucks per hour spent working.

Ground School
Once a student has decided that they are interested in learning how to fly and have taken a EAA Young Eagles flight, EAA offers a free Sporty’s online ground school course to the student. When ground school does’t answer all the students questions, Eagle Aviators has a certified ground school instructor that helps the student learn and understand the process of flying and helps get the student prepared to take the FAA Private Pilot written exam and Private Pilot Oral exam.

Flight Instruction
Eagle Aviators has a Cessna 172 and a designated certified flight instructor to teach students for any type of rating from 0 hours to Commercial Pilot. Eagle Aviators goal is to make all programs free to the students but currently the only program that costs money is flight training. Ordinarily, an hour of flight training through the Eagle Aviators program costs students $150 for the plane (fuel included) and $30 for the instruction, but up to 50 Fly Bucks can be applied to each hour to reduce the cost to $130 per hour.
