The Board of Directors of Eagle Young Aviators plans to work hard to add STEM coures via the Vail Valley education system for all willing education institutions following AOPA’s curriculm offered to schools for free. In 2022 Boeing estimated that 602,000 pilots will be needed worldwide in the next 20 years. There is a shortage of pilots today and many airlines have programs to assist or to pay for flight training.

Mechanic

As an aircraft mechanic, you’ll play a key role in the safety of airplane crew and passengers by examining, diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical problems. Aircraft mechanic jobs are expected to grow by no less than 5% by 2026. Boeing reported in 2022 that 610,000 maintenance technicians will be needed worldwide in the next 20 years.

STEM courses are likely in progross to meet the growing needs to fill mechanic positions. The Board of Directors of Eagle Young Aviators (EYA) plans to work hard to identify such courses and to add them via the Vail Valley education system for all willing education institutions. Meanwhile, join EYA and get some hands on experience with leaders in our community that can guide you to a bright future.  See Blog, CLICK HERE.

Airport Management

If you like to be around airplanes and the excitement of the airline industry Airport Managment is a path you should consider.

  • OPERATIONS: You may start by joining an operations crew where you will ensure the safe takeoff and landing of aircraft, coordinating between air-traffic control and maintenance personnel to implement airfield safety procedures.
  • CRASH, FIRE & RESCUE (CFR): You have a will to save lives? CFR at airports is specially trained to perform precision acts of bravery. CFR teams often pitch in with airfield operations at smaller airports too.
  • MANAGEMENT: You may pursue a path in operations, finance, law or otherwise. Managers must know alll aspects of an airport operation and are involved in negotiating contracts with its tenants (airlines, rental cars, concessions, FBOs, etc.) and working with TSA security, the FAA, among other regulatory agencies.

The Board of Directors of Eagle Young Aviators plans to work hard to add STEM coures via the Vail Valley education system for all willing education institutions to obtain college credit for introductory courses that follow core studies to ready you for a job as an airport manager.  Courses may follow the acceditaton curriculum of the Amercian Associatioin of Airport Executives that many aviation colleges such as Embry Riddle have established.

Aeronautical Engineer

As an aeronautical engineer, you can play a key role in the design, analysis, development and manufactoring of aircraft, electric vertical take off and landing (eVTOL) craft or spacecraft.  Engineering jobs are expected to grow by no less than 6% by 2026 as airlines work to produce quieter, more efficient aircraft.

You may also land a job with a cargo airline working as a mechanical engineer to design logistics supply chain sort equipment in the  growing world of robotics.

The Board of Directors of Eagle Young Aviators plans to work hard to identify core classes needed in High School and college to pursue a career as an aeronautical engineer.

SecuRity & LAW

You may secure a job with the Department of Homeland Secuirty (DHS) responsible for aviation secuirty, border secuirty, port secuirty, enforcement of immigration lawws, protection of critical infrastructure (e.g. airports), among other things.  The DHS works in collaboration with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) who oversees screening passengers, baggage or cargo to ensure compliance with security regulations.  Most commercial airports are supported by their own law enforcement team too.  Airport Managers and law enforcement and TSA officials are three areas of law governing airports that you may choose a career path in.

The Board of Directors of Eagle Young Aviators plans to work hard to identify opportunities to provide career guidance from DHS, TSA and local airport law enforcment officials.  Further, the EYA Board will work with the Vail Valley education system to identify the best path forward if you want to pursue a career in any security or  law enforcment field supporting airports in the United States.

Airlines & services

Airlines and related service industries are experiencing a shortage of help and future leaders.  You may begin as a ticket agent, curtesy desk help for the rental car industry or food and beverage industry at an airport. No matter what path you choose there is a path within to grow into managment roles local, regionally, nationally or worldwide.

Commercial airlines are not the only path.  You may work on a line at a fixed base operator (FBO) like Vail Valley Jet Center (VVJC), fueling planes, greeting guest or learning the ropes to manage an FBO. VVJC is part of the Signature Flight group with a worldwide footprint.

Don’t overlook cargo. Locally FedEx and UPS are two of the worlds largest integrator airlines. FedEx Express flies to more than 220 coutries and territories and has more than 650 aircraft (2022).

Any job you can imagine is available with these aviation busienss including business, finance, operations, construction…you name it!

The Board of Directors of Eagle Young Aviators will do all it can to forge a path for internship and jobs in many local companies serving our aviation network in the Vail Valley. Of course, we will work hard to add STEM courses via the Vail Valley education system for all willing education to devise a solid educational path to support your dreams.
